Through our regular programming, continued education, online and blended programming, we provide accessible educational opportunities within Alberta and beyond.The Opportunity - Instructional Assistant, Equine Reproduction ProgramOlds College, The School of Life Science and Business is recruiting a temporary Instructional Assistant to support breeding and foaling operations within the Equine Reproduction Technician Certificate.This position will begin on March 6, 2023, until July 15, 2023. This is a 40 hr./week position. This position may be renewed with similar terms in subsequent years.Key Areas of Focus and Responsibility

  • This position has the primary responsibility of assisting the instructor in the operation of the breeding/foaling enterprise and the teaching and evaluation of students, with special emphasis on stallion handling.
  • The successful candidate will be comfortable working around and caring for horses: Experience and skill with handling stallions is essential. Skilled with daily breeding procedures for hand breeding, artificial insemination and cooled shipped semen.
Experience and Qualifications
  • A post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Highly motivated and organized with the ability to work efficiently and effectively in an unsupervised environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities and to be able to interact effectively with the instructor, the students and the external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work flexible hours is required.
