Through our regular programming, continued education, online and blended programming, we provide accessible educational opportunities within Alberta and beyond.The Opportunity - Service Worker, Equine Reproduction CenterOlds College, The School of Life Science and Business is recruiting a temporary Service Worker I to care for the facilities and the animals within the Equine Reproduction Center along with general farm work beginning October 17, 2022 until March 31, 2023. This is a 40 hr./week position. This position may be renewed with similar terms in subsequent years.Key Areas of Focus and Responsibilities

  • Feeding of dry mares, stallions and pregnant mares in the morning and evening
  • Managing the settings for the light pen
  • Monitoring and maintaining shelters and fences
  • Regular cleaning of waterers
  • Bedding sheds as needed
  • Care and cleanliness of the barn and arena
  • Light grooming of horses
  • Maintaining supplies of feed and bedding
  • Assisting in animal health care
  • General farm labour
Experience and Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will be comfortable working around and caring for horses.
  • In addition they will be able to provide general farm labour and maintenance.
  • Highly motivated and organized with the ability to work efficiently and effectively in an unsupervised environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities and to be able to interact effectively with the instructor, the students and the external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work flexible hours is required.
