The CompanyGrowers Supply Company Limited, a long established supplier of agricultural products, is currently seeking a motivated and dedicated individual for a full-time permanent Grower Support position supporting the Growers of the BC Tree Fruits Cooperative and traveling throughout the Southern OkanaganThe Grower Support role provides assistance to Growers of the Cooperative with the overall goal to support growers in their objective to grow quality fruit that meets the needs of the Cooperatives selling market.The RoleBuild positive relationships with GrowersAssist with harvest maturity and fruit sampling throughout the seasonDocument processes and departmental procedures in order to produce timely and detailed reports and meeting minutesCollect field data, soil samples, and provide horticultural support to BCTF Staff and GrowersCoordinate and manage grower meetingsWork with and/or represent BC Tree Fruits at various grower organizationsCrop estimate reportsAttend continuing education/professional development coursesMonitor and learn about new and emerging pestsThe CandidateExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Strong time management skillsAbility to work in both outdoor and indoor environmentsMust be able to work independently with or without supervisionRespectfully able to work with all types of people with different personalities, cultures, and customsKnowledge of:Advanced Horticultural practicesWorkSafe BC regulationsGood Agricultural practicesTree Fruit pest knowledgeFood Safe requirementsPost Secondary education in Horticulture, Agriculture, or SciencePesticide Applications Certificate (can obtain upon hire)The PerksMedical/DentalLife Insurance and AD&DLong Term DisabilityDefined Contribution Pension Plan – includes matched contributions by employerThree weeks of vacation to startYearly incentive programStore discountsGrowers Supply Co.
