Job Description

The Mixing/Blending/Recycling Plastics Extrusion Operator is responsible for maintaining control of the mixing/blending process through accurate weighing and change over of raw materials, as well as ensuring quality standards are met through precise compound flow. The role prepares and maintains the flow of materials to the extrusion department by recycling resins back into the process.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review production batch sheets to verify correct raw material input amounts
  • Input raw materials utilizing both manual and automated systems
  • Operate automated mixing equipment through use of touch screens
  • Conduct detailed and efficient cleaning of all process equipment
  • Perform periodic preventative maintenance on processing equipment
  • Shredding/grinding/pulverizing of product to put regrind back into process
Education and Work Experience:
  • GEC or High School Diploma
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing, preference in a batch mixing capacity
  • Experience/Certification of Counterbalance Lift Truck
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong verbal communication
  • Ability to read and operate scale systems, touch screens
  • Experience utilizing hand tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment
  • Ability to handle chemicals
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong mechanical skills
Physical Demands
  • Stand for up to 12 hrs per day
  • Repetitive lifting - up to 50 lbs
  • Position may require kneeling, bending or stretching
Work Environment:
  • Team based work area - 3-4 employees working as a team
  • Variable environmental conditions such as heat
  • Instability atmospheric conditions including odours, dusts, vapours, and noise
Shifts:
  • 12 hr continental rotation - days & nights = 84 hrs biweekly
  • Working approximately 14 days out of the month including every other weekend
  • Averaging agreement in place
  • Overtime available
