DescriptionThe Kitchen Steward is an important part of the hotel’s culinary team. This position reports to the Executive Chef.The primary duty of the Kitchen Steward is to ensure memorable dining experiences by helping the culinary team reach its commitment to a safe, clean and efficient operation. Your responsibilities would include care, cleaning and inspection of flatware, tableware, kitchen equipment and kitchen areas to a superior standard.The steward needs to work well under pressure, is organized, flexible and self-motivated. The steward is responsible to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your co-workers by upholding the safety rules and ensure that all equipment in the kitchen is clean and in good working condition before use.Duties include:Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging serviceFollow stewarding policies, procedures and service standardsEnsure plates, cups, glasses, silverware, pots & all cooking utensils are cleaned using the appropriate machineryRemove garbage and compost from kitchenMaintain cleanliness and organization of stewarding kitchen areasSupply equipment requirements for kitchen and outletsFollowing all safety and sanitation policiesAdhere to the hotels vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehiclesOther duties as assignedYou bring:Excellent organizational skillsHighly responsible & reliableAbility to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervisionAbility to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all timesStewarding is physical by nature and requires the applicant to be able to lift up to 50lbs.
