Nk’Mip Cellars; 2016 Intervin Canadian Winery of the Year recipient, is a successful joint venture partnering Arterra Wines Canada with the Osoyoos Indian Band. Featuring premium, award winning VQA wines in the south Okanagan we can offer an aspiring team player, a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse yourself into the heart of British Columbia wine country and provide hands on experience with premium VQA wine production.The job will entail all aspects of wine production. Successful candidates will be exposed to all harvest processing from receiving fruit and pressing, inoculation, pump overs, wine movements, racking, barrel cellar work, and more.We are looking for an individual excited by the British Columbia wine industry, and is keen to continue improving their wine industry knowledge and skills over the vintage. This is a seasonal employment opportunity and will begin mid to late August and end early to mid-December (hard dates will be confirmed with successful candidate closer to the harvest period).Preference will be given to those who provide a detailed application including a cover letter outlining your experience and industry ambitions.The Role:Your key responsibilities and duties are as follows:Grape Processing: Grape and Juice Reception, Destemming, Crushing, and PressingFermentation Management: Inoculations, Nutrient Additions, Sampling, Pump Overs, Punch Downs, Sugar Monitoring, and Digging Out of FermentersCellar Work: Barrel Work, Racking, Product Transfers, Product Blending, and Product AdditionsCellar Sanitation: Tank & Barrel Cleaning, and general cleaning of facility and winery equipmentFollow all safety procedures as directed by standard operating proceduresWork Order Completion and ComplianceSafe Operation of Cellar Forklift and Other Winery Equipment (Training Provided)Inventory ControlJob Requirements:High School Diploma or Equivalent requiredMotivated and passionate about the wine industryStrong commitment to quality with attention to detail.Candidate must be hands on, dependable, and self-starting.Good problem solving abilities along with basic logistic skills required.Ability to be trained in confined space entry process and procedures.Teamwork and customer service skills.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Maintain an organized work place.Ability to lift 55 lbs.Willing to work long hours, shift work, and overtime if necessaryPrior experience and relevant education preferred, but not a necessityPracticum students welcome to applyHow to Apply:To apply please email your cover letter and resume to Randy Picton, Nk’Mip Cellars Estate Winemaker ( randy.picton@arterracanada.com )Number of Openings:1We are committed to establishing a qualified workforce that reflects the diverse population it serves and we encourage applications from all qualified individuals.
