An Assistant Controller position has opened up with one of our well-known and thriving clients in Ottawa, Ontario. Our client is in search of a candidate who is proactive, possesses a proven track record of problem-solving by identifying and addressing issues, and thrives in a multifaceted role. In this Assistant Controller position, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting team and reporting all updates to the Controller. This permanent employment opportunity is based in the south-end of Ottawa, Ontario. This is an on-site opportunity. Responsibilities: - Supervise the accounting team #39;s activities - Ensure the thorough completion of regular account reconciliations - Assist in the preparation of budgets - Promote the implementation and strict adherence to accounting policies and procedures - Provide support to the accounting team during the closing process to ensure timely completion of tasks and meeting deadlines - Produce and manage balance sheets - Classify and develop Ad Hoc financial reports - Urge accountability and the meeting of deliverables - Construct relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like actual spend against budgets/outlook, the monthly flash report, and key financial metrics - Recognize and grow process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency - Other distinguished duties when required Qualifications: - CPA Professional Designation - Full-cycle accounting knowledge - Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail - Deep knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems - Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment - Proven knowledge of month end and year end closings - Solid understanding of account analysis - Strong familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) - Exceptional oral and written communication skills Please call us at 613-236-4253 and ask to speak with Stuart Eliuk or Trevor White, or apply online today!
