Job Description

Community Inclusion Adult Support Worker- Parksville, BCWage: $20.30 per hourShift Type: Part timeThe qualified applicant will be flexible in their availability and willing to work afternoons, evenings and weekends. This person will have the desire to make a difference in the lives of adults 19 + years old. The new team member will work within a larger interdisciplinary team to provide a program which will include recreation, life skills, social opportunities, regulation skills, may include some personal care and other opportunities that are set out by the team.If you feel you have the qualifications, skill set and desire to make a difference in a persons life, we look forward to hearing from you! These adults could present with the following; non-verbal, personal care needs, aggressive behavior, aggressive language, possibility of elopement, attachment disorder, and could have had some type of trauma in their lives which manifests as behaviors. If you have worked with vulnerable youth and/or adults, hold a CYC, CSW, or relevant certificates, diplomas or degrees OR are passionate about supporting people and wish to make a difference, we would love to talk with you.The qualified team member will be working as a part of a larger interdisciplinary team. These are some of the responsibilities and duties that will be required:

  • Working 1-1 with the adult in their residential home, or in a 3:1 setting
  • Working within the community at large
  • Communicating with the team through documentation, meetings and log books
  • Promote health and safety at all times
  • Have patience and understanding of the adult and the situation
The qualified applicant will be able to provide the following:
  • Must be 19+ years of age
  • Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License
  • Clean Drivers Abstract
  • Personal Vehicle Required
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or exemption
  • RCMP Criminal Record Check - Employer will file
  • Criminal Records Review Act Schedule A -Employer will file
  • Current Ministry of Health Approved First Aid Certificate including CPR
  • Dr. Letter
  • Current and Clear TB Screen
  • Education and/or experience working with vulnerable adults, or people with challenging behaviors. (CYC,CSW, SW, SIVA, etc.)
  • Independent work is required
  • Be able to work in stressful environment
  • Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills
