Job Description

Did you know golf is a $16 billion industry in Canada, that it is the number one participation sport (even more than hockey!), and that one in five Canadians play golfIf you enjoy being of service to others, want to thrive in an inspired, community-minded team environment, and like flexible work hours, joining the Morningstar Golf Club team might be your best decision ever!We are currently seeking a Golf Shop Team Lead who will be a key member of the Golf Operations team providing leadership and support in the day-to-day operations of the Golf Shop. In addition to performing a variety of retail and tee sheet management duties as a Golf Shop Attendant, the Golf Shop Team Lead will provide supervisory support to team members when the Associate Professional and Director of Golf are not on site or immediately available. The Golf Shop Team Lead will also be familiar with the operational procedures of Morningstar Outside Services, Starters, and Player Assistants providing oversight of these teams if their respective Team Leads are unavailable. Under the guidance of the Associate Professional, the Golf Team Lead will assist Golf Shop team members acquire the knowledge and skills needed to optimize Golf Shop operations.Qualifications and SkillsThe ideal candidate for this position would:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the Golf Industry.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the game of golf, rules of play, and league/tournament formats.
  • Demonstrate excellent social skills being friendly, outgoing, approachable, and genuinely interested in establishing positive relationships and providing excellent experiences for Morningstar members, guests, and Golf Shop team members.
  • Demonstrate excellent computer skills being able to comfortably navigate and use a variety of devices and applications including golf industry software as well as word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills being able to explain or demonstrate policies and procedures to members, guests, and Golf Shop team members.
  • Be able to manage priorities effectively in a high-volume retail environment.
  • Be self-motivated and able to motivate others to meet or exceed expectations in their job role.
  • Have experience in retail sales and merchandising.
  • Be able to lift boxes of inventory averaging 5-10 lbs and less than 50 lbs.
