We are committed to be the city of choice for current residents and future generations, maintaining a clean, safe, friendly, economically viable and environmentally conscious community.The City of Parksville has an opening for a full-time Manager of Parks and Facilities.Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager effectively manages the activities of the Parks Section and the Building and Facilities Section including parks operations; park planning and development; building maintenance and security. The position also prepares annual operational budgets, capital projects, manages and implements Council priorities including the implementation of the Community Park Master Plan and the Parks, Trails and Open Spaces Master Plan and is responsible for the overall asset management of city-owned buildings and facilities.The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g. Landscape Architecture, Parks and Resource Management, Natural Resource Science, Science in Environmental Management, Parks Planning, Engineering, Recreation Planning). Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an asset.The position requires a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience (public sector policy development as well as objective setting and performance measurement) in a local government setting including three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role. Experience engaging First Nations, liaising with stakeholders and conducting public consultation will be of great value to the successful candidate. Knowledge of permitting processes for senior governments would be an asset.The City offers a competitive salary range ($98,904 - $113,549 – subject to relevant experience and credentials) plus comprehensive benefits package, including an earned day off program upon completion of probation.
