About usParry Sound Golf & Country Club50, George Hunt Memorial Drive,McDougall, ON, P2A1M5General Description: The Golf Starter/Marshal will be working at the Parry Sound Golf & Country Club under the supervision of the PGA of Ontario Head Professional. The Golf Starter/Marshall is an integral part of our golf operations team and is responsible for superior customer service to all golf patrons, ensures orderly and timely movement of tee-off times,controlling the pace of play and enforcing the Golf Club's policies. The Golf Starter/Marshall must possess knowledge of the basic rules of golf etiquette and possess the ability to be both firm and tactful in enforcing golf course policies.Responsibilities:

  • Meet and greet all golf patrons in a warm, friendly and professional manner.
  • Outline necessary golf course information regarding course conditions, golf etiquette and club policies including the adherence to AGCO rules and regulations.
  • Verify names of all golfers teeing off at each tee time throughout each day.
  • Reconcile and add/delete golf patron from the Tee Sheet.
  • Ensure all golf patrons are teeing off promptly at their assigned tee times with all the proper materials. (i.e. Score cards, ball markers, divot tools, etc.)
  • Record actual tee-off times and actual finish times for each golf patron(s).
  • Help to keep clubhouse area clear of any debris/garbage.
  • Promotion of Golf Club events to all golf patrons.
  • Monitor the pace of play via use of a golf cart to patrol the course.
  • This position will assist Back Shop and Pro Shop employees where needed.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
  • Smart Serve Ontario certification is required. Company can help with acquiring this if the successful candidate does not have this qualification.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Organized, able to work in a busy environment with competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing personality as an asset.
  • Superior knowledge of golf and tournament operations is an asset but training can be provided.
  • A pleasing personality and leadership abilities are required to be successful in this position.

Physical Requirements:
  • This position requires a Driver's License.
  • Some lifting may be required on the odd occasion up to 50lbs. Primarily helping with golf bags and clubs (when public health regulations permit).
  • Standing or sitting during the shift.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This position requires a flexible schedule including statutory holidays, early morning, late night, and weekend work.
  • Job involves working under variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in indoor and outdoor settings. Primarily outdoors.
