Job Description

District of PeachlandOperations ClerkThe District of Peachland, a vibrant and growing community of approximately 5,400 located on the shores of Okanagan Lake between Kelowna and Penticton, is currently recruiting for a permanent full-time Operations Clerk.Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for, day-to-day administrative coordination of the department. Providing administrative support to the Director and department staff and performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties. Accounting functions to support the Finance Department on an as needed basis.A complete job description is available at www.peachland.ca under careers.Some of the key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Respond to inquiries from the public, contractors, staff, other municipalities and levels of government with respect to public works projects and activities, general reporting, resolve complaints and/or forward to the appropriate contact.
  • Provide a variety of information to the staff and community including, but not limited to, water system shutdowns, water quality notifications, road closures, construction projects and general municipal information.
  • Provide administrative and clerical functions to the Operations Department such as preparing letters, tender packages, requesting quotes, recording minutes of crew meetings, digital and physical filing, message forwarding, delivery and pickup of mail.
  • Prepares, creates, compiles and/or organizes professional correspondence, reports and other materials as needed or directed.
  • Provide accounting functions to support the Finance Department, including but not limited to; utility billing and water metering, coding invoices for payment, matching purchase orders with invoices,
  • Coordinate operations of the District cemetery including generating work orders, burial related activities and day-to-day administrative record maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies such as safety materials, shop supplies, ice control supplies and office equipment
  • Function as municipal contact for requesting service on BC Hydro street lighting
  • Maintain updated information with regards to emergencies, Occupational health and safety inspections, crew talks, policies, donations and gifts, phone contact and coding
The ideal candidate for this position is a team player and should possess:
  • Diploma in an accounting related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related position. Preference will be given to candidates with accounting experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer aptitude including advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft programs.
  • Knowledge of Vadim software will be considered an asset.
  • Utility billing and cemetery software experience preferred.
