Job Description

Title: Mines and Services ManagerDepartment: Mines and ServicesStatus: Full Time RegularPay Grid: Manager (Hourly rate $30 to $35)Reporting to: CEOSummary of Duties:The Mines and Services Manager works closely with the CEO, managing the delivery of a broad range of services from mine and transfer station operations, aggregate contracts, and project management. This role ensures the overall profitability, efficiency, and success of all contracts within the Mines and Services department.Key Deliverables and Expectations:

  • Provides leadership to the development and operating affairs of Pemberton Transfer Station
  • Manages the operations of the Pemberton Transfer Station site and Lil’wat and Rutherford Pit
  • Ensures all contracts are compliant with local and federal laws, building codes and regional district by-laws and Líwat Business Group and Líwat Nation policies
  • Manages relationships with regulatory bodies such as SLRD, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development
  • Generates employment and contracting opportunities
  • Designs formal business relationships (i.e., letters of intent, operating agreements, contracts, MOU)
  • Completes weekly and monthly reporting for the CEO and Business Group Board of Directors
  • Develops, implements, and monitors budgets and work plans
  • Manages staff through effective recruitment, selection, performance management and disciplinary issues
  • Manages health and safety as a priority, ensuring compliance with Laws and Regulations, striving to improve departmental performance
  • Assists in the development of policies and programs (e.g. financial, human resource, and health and safety)
  • Perform other related duties as requested
Experience and Attributes:
  • Eight to ten (8-10) years of related equipment, mines and contract management experience, including two (2) to three (3) years of management / supervisory experience
  • Three to five (3-5) years of contract project management experience as an asset
  • Experience within a First Nations Organization, preferably in BC
  • Physically fit, with the ability to lift, pull or carry up to 50lbs
  • Class 3 Driver’s License
  • First Aid Level 1 preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to travel as required for the position
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritizes assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint is an asset
  • Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all clients and Members
