Your Opportunity:The Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury has three distinct programs: Adult inpatient, Brain Injury Rehabilitation, and Seniors Mental Health. This position is within the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services in the Adult Inpatient Program. The Recovery Vision guides the philosophy, interventions and clinical practices of the rehabilitation units. The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program provides an interdisciplinary team of specialists offering assessment, treatment, and specialized resources to persons who are experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. This program provides a solution-focused, strength-based approach to psychosocial rehabilitation to assist patients in enhancing their functional, emotional and coping skills/abilities in order to successfully discharge to community environments to live hopeful, satisfying and personally meaningful lives. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the successful applicant will work as an integral member of an active interdisciplinary team. The Psychologist will contribute to the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with a mental illness. Responsibilities will include a wide variety of professional activities within the practice of psychology and psycho-educational/clinical support of solution-focused interventions to professional members of the team; active involvement in clinical meetings and treatment conferences; psychological assessments; assistance with research activities, program development and evaluation projects. The Psychologist will also be partially responsible for the supervision and mentoring of a psychology intern.Description:As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include: psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as education activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practice and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consults/collaborates with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.
