Tired of fighting traffic in the GTA Want to make a difference for the Environment Come be a part of Canada’s premier Science and Technology organization, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), as the Historic Waste Program Management Office in Port, Hope Ontario implements Canada’s largest low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) environmental remediation project.THE COMPANYAs an enabler of business innovation and technology transfer, CNL is committed to a clean and prosperous Canada. A leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in the communities of Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario is a demonstration of Canada’s commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.THE POSITIONWe are looking for an experienced Project Assistant for our Port Hope Long Term Waste Management Facility (LTWMF) department. You can expect to interact directly with internal stakeholders and other contributing parties while providing administrative support and carrying out general project administrative duties to support a successful implementation of the project(s). The Project Assistant will work under the supervision of the Manager, Port Hope & Port Granby Long Term Waste Management Facilities.

  • Maintains project action and activity logs and work with the project manager and team to ensure that these are clarified and completed to avoid delays and issues during the execution of the project..
  • Attends project meetings and reviews both on the construction site and in the office.
  • Interfaces with the project stakeholders, including internal PHAI groups, contractors, consultants, municipal contacts and local residents.
  • Keeps records of information related to project for documentation, clarification and presentation to management.
  • Assists the manager with scheduling meetings and events, general communication, takes meeting minutes, sends out meeting notices, and logs actions.
  • Evaluates the nature and condition of the project and making useful suggestions to the manager on the best practices and strategies to apply in project execution.
THE LOCATIONThe Historic Waste Program Management Office, is located in the beautiful and historic community of Port Hope, Ontario. Roughly 100kms East of Toronto, Port Hope is located at the mouth of the Ganaraska River on the north shore of Lake Ontario, in the west end of Northumberland County. If you are a Secondary school graduate with a diploma or degree and 2 to 4 years progressively responsible and relevant business experience, we want to hear from you! If you can supplement your education and experience further because you have 1 to 3 years project management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience related to project management that is even better. Working knowledge of the computer-based applications used for project management purposes (i.e., scheduling software, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, is required.
