Tired of fighting traffic in the GTA Want to make a difference for the Environment Come be a part of Canada’s premier Science and Technology organization, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), as the Historic Waste Program Management Office in Port, Hope Ontario implements Canada’s largest low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) environmental remediation project.THE COMPANYAs an enabler of business innovation and technology transfer, CNL is committed to a clean and prosperous Canada. A leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in the communities of Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario is a demonstration of Canada’s commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.THE POSITIONWe are looking for an experienced Waste Haul Project Coordinator for our Port Granby & Port Hope Long Term Waste Management Facility (LTWMF) department. You can expect to interact directly with internal stakeholders and other contributing parties involved in the development and implementation of the management of Low Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW) located at a variety of sites around the Port Hope Community and consolidating the wastes in a new engineered mound. The Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Manager, Port Hope & Port Granby Long Term Waste Management Facilities.

  • Act as the primary coordinator between waste generating sites around the Port Hope area and the Long Term Waste Management Facility (LTWMF).
  • Monitor and control waste traffic to and from the LTWMF to ensure compliance to CNL procedures.
  • Review contractor submittals (schedules, SOPs, reports, costs/ invoices, etc.), and ensure scope requirements are met.
  • Review technical studies and detailed reports prepared by design consultants and other contributing parties to ensure high quality (technical accuracy and appropriateness) and consistency with formats/requirements to CNL technical documentation standards.
  • Complete research, provides expert advice and leads the development of practical and economical solutions to specific engineering problems encountered by the project
  • Actively assist with the definition, coordination and implementation of the various engineering work packages under the scope of services described as site remediation.
THE LOCATIONThe Historic Waste Program Management Office, is located in the beautiful and historic community of Port Hope, Ontario. Roughly 100kms East of Toronto, Port Hope is located at the mouth of the Ganaraska River on the north shore of Lake Ontario, in the west end of Northumberland County. If you have a university degree in civil, environmental, geotechnical or Environmental Sciences and a minimum of two years engineering, environmental remediation, construction or related work experience, we want to hear from you! If you can supplement your education and experience further because you capability support project teams or provide input to design teams in the development of concepts and preliminary designs, that is even better. Registration or eligibility for membership in a provincial engineering association, or equivalent, is desirable.
