Job Description

Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedSummary:Miller Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on maintenance contracts for the Ministry of Transportation throughout the province of Ontario. Our leadership in the Ontario road and highway maintenance industry is based on our commitment to continuous improvement through education, innovation, safety, and training. This is a fixed term opportunity.As an Operator/Patroller, You Will:

  • Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants in compliance with Miller Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) polices and ensure contractual HSE obligation for the staff and public are met
  • Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways
  • Conduct daily circle checks on vehicles; clean and maintain vehicles, and perform equipment maintenance as required
  • Respond to emergency situations such as spills, accidents, inclement weather, and assist in implementing an emergency plan
  • Provide traffic control at accident scenes including set up and take down of traffic control signs
  • Make snow and ice control decisions during winter and initiate equipment and operator call outs
  • Complete diary, daily electronic timesheets, and other various paperwork required
  • Right-of-way debris and litter picking
  • Respond to public complaints
  • Inspect patrols and create deficiency lists for foreperson
  • Other duties as assigned
What Youll Bring:
  • Experience in snow and ice control along with knowledge of OTM book 7, considered an asset
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance considered an asset
  • Mechanical knowledge and experience with general equipment maintenance, considered an asset
  • DZ license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Willingness to work and drive in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs

  • Effective communication skills to accurately document daily activities, incident reports and deficiency logs
  • Excellent team player who will fit in a highly functional team
  • Ability to remain flexible with shift schedules, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays)
  • Available to respond to call-ins within thirty minutes
