Candidates who fail to provide sufficient information will be eliminated from further consideration.DutiesThe Public Health Clinical Liaison Nurse completes comprehensive review of case and contact management of Sexually Transmitted and Blood Born Infection #39;s (STBBI) for clients residing in Manitoba First Nations.The Public Health Clinical Liaison Nurse will:

  • Determine residency of clients with whom First Nation Inuit Health Branch receives laboratory results on and ensures community nurses are aware of such result;
  • Assist and guide the community nurses on treatment/staging of STBBI #39;s and competition of case and contact management;
  • Review and ensure that appropriate follow up serology for STBBI #39;s occurs;
  • Collaborate with Regional Health Authorities to ensure appropriate follow up care for clients occurs;
  • Provide in person support to communities on a monthly basis for immunization clinics of all ages;
  • Attend and participate with conferences and meetings with internal and external stakeholders virtually and in person;
  • Provide support to other Public Health Programs such as Animal Exposures.

Experience:
  • Recent* and significant experience in providing community health nursing in the following areas:
  • Immunizations;
  • Treatment and management of Sexually Transmitted Blood Born Infection #39;s (STBBI) and/or Communicable Disease Control (CDC) and;
  • Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience developing and delivering group education sessions or training programs related to health.
  • Recent is defined as within the last five (5) years.

  • Education or training in public health nursing.
  • Master #39;s degree in nursing or Master #39;s degree in a field relevant to the position from a recognized university.
Degree equivalencyExperience:
  • Experience in community health nursing providing primary care or public health for First Nations.
  • Experience with electronic medical records or public health information systems including EMR, eCharts and/or PHIMS.
  • Experience in case and contact management.
  • Experience in infection control and prevention.
  • Experience in harm reduction processes and procedures.
  • Experience in animal exposure processes and procedures.
  • Experience developing policies and guidelines related to public health.

  • Maintain current and ongoing certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain certification in other certification programs as deemed necessary by employer.
  • Willingness to perform on call duties as needed.
  • Willingness to work overtime and on weekends as needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver #39;s license or personal mobility associated with the possession of a valid driver #39;s license.
