The Manitoba Government has a comprehensive benefit package which includes extended health care, health spending account, dental care, vision care, long term disability insurance, group life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, family related leave, and a defined pension plan (some pension plans allow for portability between the Civil Service Superannuation Board and employers).   • Must have or be eligible for a valid Manitoba Permanent School Clinician #39;s Certificate
  • Must be able to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
  • Ability to travel throughout Manitoba as required
Qualifications:Essential:
  • Masters Degree in Psychology
  • Extensive clinical experience working in the K-12 school system
  • Experience implementing and monitoring student specific plans, transition plans, and/or Wraparound plans.
  • Extensive experience in working with mental health treatment services to school aged youth (including mental health counselling, therapy and community services)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Effective written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work cooperatively with all stakeholders (student, educational, family, health, and community partners).
  • Experience handling sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Experience interpreting and applying education related regulations/policy (specifically standards for appropriate education).
Desired:
  • Knowledge of or experience with supervision of provincial school psychologist for professional certification in Manitoba
Duties:This position provides leadership and expertise in the area of school psychology by supporting school clinicians, school/division leaders, student services professionals and other educators in northern, rural and urban school divisions. The position provides expertise in assessment, planning and programming for students living with diverse learning and behavioural needs including but not limited to: intellectual disability, learning disability, mental health, and safe and caring schools. The position has a lead role in supervising school psychologists for professional certification throughout Manitoba. Consultants in the Student Services Unit also use their expertise to monitor and validate special needs categorical grant requests and participate in the Review and Reporting Process with school divisions across the province. This position includes student specific consultation in support of students with profound emotional and/or behavioural needs, which involves collaboration with school division staff, parents, agencies and community to facilitate implementation of wraparound or circle of care plans.
