Successful candidates will have the opportunity to use their scratch cooking skills to instruct individuals in all aspects of a food services training program.Conditions of Employment:

Qualifications:Essential:
  • Completion of a recognized food services diploma or certificate and related experience in commercial cooking or equivalent combination of education and training
  • Experience in food preparation
  • Experience in storage, sanitation and safety
  • Experience in portion control, menu planned an analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience training or instructing others
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience working in a team environment

Duties:Under the general supervision of the Food Services Manager, the incumbent of this position is responsible for the preparation of meals, the supervision of inmates engaged in the preparation of meals and general kitchen duties. The incumbent also instructs inmates in the on-the-job training aspects of the food services training program.The incumbent will prepare and supervise the preparation of meals to ensure that high quality food preparation standards and meal standards are maintained at all times. In addition, the incumbent properly manages the storage of food product and participates in the maintenance of food service administrative processes to ensure that the product is protected and base data is maintained and reported for management purposes; participates in the on-the-job training aspects of the food services training program to enable inmates to gain skills which are transportable into the community and assist them to gain employment once released; maintains a high level of security over inmates, product, equipment and tools to ensure a safe and secure work environment as possible; and participates in the institutional case management initiatives as they relate to inmates assigned to the food services operation.Apply to:Advertisement # 41471Service Centre 1Human Resource Services
