  • Hours: Two Temporary Support Worker roles at 15 hours per week
  • Shifts: Tuesday - Thursday (hours to be determined)
  • Hourly Wage: $22.65

SummaryLift Family Place provides a wide range of community services focusing on the needs of families, parents and caregivers with children under the age of six. We run a drop-in centre that houses programming, food services and acts as a community connection point. We host a comfortable, safe and clean space that provides social interaction and a place for children to play.Our Family Place Support Workers are warm and friendly and provide an inclusive welcome to the centre. They are kind, professional and courteous to all who use our centre. They are comfortable with young children and provide playful learning opportunities for both children and parents. They are open and non-judgemental, modeling compassion and patience. They have experience in the early childhood years and understand the rigours of parenting young children. They are empathetic and practice professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality within the policies of Lift Community Services.In a busy and interactive centre such as ours, our Support Workers are the centre’s engine, providing clean, clear space for interaction, play and learning. Life happens at Family Place.Responsibilities:Facility Management
  • Set up of space(s) as per programming needs
  • Opening and closing procedures
  • Cleaning procedures (daily or as protocols dictate)
  • Toy and library rotation
  • Materials prep
Community Interface
  • Staff members are expected to interact with various members of the community, family members and other community professionals.
  • The Family Place is a resource hub for families and it is expected that staff members are knowledgeable in “in house” as well as other service providers program and resources, specific to any family’s immediate or changing needs.
    • This is ongoing education and may include media searches, printing, posting and simply talking to families about programs that are available to the community.
    • This work may also include developing and cultivating community partnerships to provide specific workshops, trainings and information sessions for parent participants.

  • Be flexible and responsive.
  • Be prepared to use all modes of media communication and multiply formats of technological tools including Word, Excel, Canva, Teams, Outlook email programs and Zoom.
  • Participate in team, CSP team, and org-wide meetings; Lift community engagements; training performance reviews; etc.
Qualifications:Qualifications must include:
  • Training, education or experience in early childhood development, with preference given to up to date ECD or previous experience in a family resource program or parent/child support
  • Familiarity with local services and programs for the 0-6 population and their parents
  • Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills with a non-judgmental, accepting attitude.
  • Requires good written and verbal command of English language, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, meet deadlines and keep accurate records.
  • Requires a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Populations
Qualifications that would be assets and preferred:
  • Ability to work flexible hours as assigned
  • Experience in adult education, facilitation, non-violent communication, trauma informed practices, family literacy or related fields, nutrition and budgeting skills, mental health and wellness practices.
Working Conditions and Physical EnvironmentThe employee maybe required to work some hours outside of the posted hours.
