Job Description

EXISTING CNC CUPE Employees:For all Administrative postings please disregard the following statement. For CUPE postings please refer to Article 9.01 (d) of the CUPE Collective Agreement to ensure you have met the eligibility requirements to apply to CUPE competitions.Employment Status Full Time Employment Type Seasonal Job Summary Specific Duties

  • Create new menu items for short order, catering, and brink kiosk
  • Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
  • Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are clean and sanitized at the end of each shift
  • Prepare food including roasting, baking, and cooking on the flat top/grill
  • Complete preparation assignments for next day’s menus set out by Cook I
  • Assist with the setup of the salad bar and soup station as required
  • Assist with daily baking (muffins, scones, cinnamon buns, cookies, etc.)
  • Run the deep fryer and or grill – create and prepare specials
  • Make soups and sauces as required
  • Must adhere to standardized recipes and specifications to maintain consistency, and ensure high quality in all food produced for sale
  • Must adhere to portion control guidelines set by Supervisor
  • Inform supervisor of food needed for short order
  • Cook and prepare food for banquets, meetings, and BBQ’s
  • Keep work station clean and organized including fridge/freezer, countertop, grill and stoves
  • Inform Supervisor when maintenance/repair is needed on any equipment
  • Inform Supervisor of customer suggestions or concerns
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • You will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues
Skills & Qualifications
  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Two Year Culinary Arts Certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • 2 years or more Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cook in a high volume kitchen operation
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team – working harmoniously with others
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
  • Must be able to work quickly and efficiently, preparing several orders simultaneously
  • Must have experience preparing food in large quantities for events and banquets
  • Proven ability to work in high pressure, high volume situations
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, polite, friendly, and outgoing
  • Applicant must be physically able to endure a minimum of 6 hrs standing on tile flooring
  • Applicant must be physically able to lift boxes up to 40 lbs in a safe manner
  • Proven sound judgement abilities
  • Dedicated to a high level of customer service
  • Attention to detail, neat and thorough
  • Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision
