Enjoy unique experiences, close connections with communities, and a strong focus on professional development opportunities, as well as the natural wonders of the northern BC while you work.The Opportunity: The Family Empowerment Worker is responsible for providing supervised visitation for children-in-care with family members. The incumbent will provide transportation to and from visits for children and teach life skills to parents and other family members who access the Family Empowerment Program.

  • Teaches a variety of home management life skills: including but not limited to: information on nutritional meal planning, budgeting, child safety, basic health and personal hygiene, First Aid, housekeeping strategies and standards, skills to effectively manage time.
  • Provides information on parenting skills, including but not limited to behavior management, how to set limits and boundaries, effective ways of disciplining, effective use of time outs, natural and logical consequences, building self esteem, stages of child development and age appropriate behaviors.
  • Provides information on personal functioning, including but not limited to: self esteem, assertiveness training, self-advocacy skills, communication skills, stress management, coping skills, anger management.
  • Adhere to standards of confidentiality
  • Comply with all relevant standards for documentation and reporting

  • Social Services Diploma/Certificate preferred; or
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years’ experience in a related area of practice
  • Two years’ experience in a related area of practice
