Join a team that has the environment down to a science.Your OpportunityStantec is currently seeking a Project Coordinator/ Project Manager to provide support for mining clients on key projects in British Columbia. This position will be part of Stantec’s Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address a variety of technical, permitting, and approval requirements. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation, and mitigation. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources management, forestry, habitat, and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, information management, environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design, and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services.Your Key ResponsibilitiesProvide coordination or management support for mining projects in British Columbia. Coordination may include field support for engineering (e.g., drilling) or environmental permitting workPromoting a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment ProgramCoordinating and tracking of assignments, scopes, schedules budgets, and deliverablesDemonstrating leadership and coordination of staff across operating unitsTechnical writing and report preparationQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsUnderstanding of the consulting business and flexibility to support projects and collaborate across the company – notably the Mining and Environmental Services TeamsStrong leadership and communication skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with project teamsAbility to make decisions and to problem-solveDemonstrated organizational skillsWillingness to travel for project work, as neededStrong interpersonal and social skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences/ technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agenciesDesire to learn the environmental business and contribute to the success of a teamAssisted or planned field programs related to mining is an assetFamiliarity with mine safety protocolsEducation and ExperienceBachelor or graduate degree in biology, engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized universityMinimum of 5 years’ project or program management experienceProfessional designation preferredDemonstrated experience in overall coordination in a fast-paced, changing environmentGeneral knowledge of environmental legislationTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
