Job Description

Requisition Id: 24075Department: Prince Rupert Terminal DistrictOverviewPembina’s Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit which is part of Pembina’s Facilities Division is currently recruiting for an Assistant, Terminal Operation. This position will report to the Operations Supervisor, Prince Rupert Terminal and will work out of the propane export terminal on Watson Island, about 8km south of Prince Rupert.Summary of ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant, Terminal Operations will be responsible for assisting the Field Operators with daily operational activities in the field for rail switching, product offloading and marine berthing facilities. As the qualified applicant you will:

  • Have a safety conscious attitude for all day-to-day operations by ensuring Pembina’s Corporate Safety Standards are met;
  • Recommend improvements for facility efficiency and optimization;
  • Ensure procedures are maintained and updated regularly and that task observations are completed for the Operations staff;
  • Assist in creating THA’s (Task Hazard Assessment) when required to perform safe work and develop site specific procedures as required;
  • Identify operational and safety improvements;
  • Review, understand and utilize Pembina’s safety and operational procedures/standards in performing all facets of work;
  • Ensure a high standard of safety by ensuring proper procedures are followed in relation to operational and maintenance tasks;
  • Maintain close surveillance of all operating conditions to maximize reliability and efficiency;
  • Take immediate and decisive action in emergencies, equipment shutdowns, equipment failures, and equipment deviations;
  • Work effectively in a team environment in starting up and/or shutting down various pieces of equipment in the rail yard and rack area;
  • Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or repair, identify problems and recommended solutions;
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills that are aligned with Pembina’s core values;
  • Be responsible for assisting daily facility operations including, facility inspections and facility integrity activities;
  • Assist with facility maintenance activities;
  • Participate in emergency response exercises;
  • Perform various assignments related to health, safety and the environment in compliance with company standards and adhere to Pembina’s Safety Culture of “Zero by Choice”;
  • Be available on-call as per district needs;
  • Be flexible to work rotating shift patterns;
  • Fostering an environment of inclusion and diversity that continues to contribute towards values of team and collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
  • Rail yard and/or marine stevedore experience is desirable;
  • SAP Plant Maintenance software knowledge and use is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and other business-related computer programs and applications;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrate and encourage teamwork within all operational teams;
  • An excellent safe work record; and
  • Safety Courses: TDG, H2S Alive, First Aid, ICS 100/200 would be an asset, but if incomplete, will be provided by company to the successful candidate.
