Perform multiple tasks including sampling, plating, media preparation, result reporting, and operate laboratory instrument in both production and laboratory settings. Communicate with production and technical departments to resolve quality issues.Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pmMajor Responsibilities:Performs daily microbiological testing on water processes and finished products using aseptic techniques.Analyses results & trends and ensures micro database is up to date and accurate.Manages filler cleaning schedule. Observe, coach, and train operators during filler cleaning activities.Performs positive, negative, and sterility testing on all incoming supplies.Prepares media as needed.Performs verification activities on incubators, thermometers, autoclaves, and sterilizers.Completes maintenance activities for sample ports throughout process piping and equipment.Ensures full compliance of the sensory program; daily & weekly sample collection, panel setup & reviewing results, and maintains sensory library & keeping quality program.Maintain and order micro lab suppliesMaintain micro programs in an audit ready stateTrouble shoot, track and trend micro data and line healthCalibration of all microbiology laboratory equipmentParticipate in all required Proficiency testing programsCompletes consumer complaint investigations on returned samples.Support production with any quality investigation/troubleshooting activities.Monitor compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and internal standards through auditing.Aids in meeting requirements for all external compliance audits including FSSC 22000.Additional duties and department coverage as needed. QualificationsB.Sc. or diploma in Microbiology or Food Science or related experienceOne to two years’ experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the food manufacturing industryLaboratory instrumentation knowledge including micro filtration equipment, incubators, autoclaves, UV sterilization devices, pH metersStrong written and oral communication skills for documentation and interaction with plant personnel, external vendors, customers, business partners and regulatory agenciesStrong decision-making skills based on analytical dataStrong computer skills including experience with Windows and Microsoft Office productsKnowledge of SAP or other enterprise software applications a plusAbility to operate independently or in a team-based environment with minimal supervisionDemonstrated organizational, documentation and record keeping skillsLegally eligible to work in CanadaBlueTriton Brands’ position in the Canadian bottled water market is unmatched.
