Reporting to the Managing Editor, Global Montreal, this role involves reporting, writing stories as well as live reporting. The work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm but may require some overtime - including longer days and occasional weekends. This is a Group 3 position in the current collective agreement.You’ll be working on things like:The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions, but does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to this position:

  • Report on the activity of the National Assembly of Quebec and the Quebec Government
  • Generate original and enterprise news stories that reflect the Global Montreal audience.
  • Produce engaging enterprise content for all news programs and platforms.
  • Demand accountability from government, community and business leaders.
  • Source community events and opportunities for original, enterprise and breaking news stories.
  • Develop contacts within the community.
  • Complete and file expense reports and other reports as necessary in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Safely operate and maintain company vehicle as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
If you have the following…we want to hear from you!
  • Bachelors degree in Journalism or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a reporter or digital broadcast journalist
  • Excellent command of the English language and good comprehension of French.
  • Proficient in reporting, writing and producing engaging content for broadcast, online and social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, curate and develop content using digital operating systems for multiple platforms.
  • Strong live on-air presentation skills.
  • Excellent reporting and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must work well under pressure and have a positive can-do attitude.
  • Ability to meet strict daily deadlines and work co-operatively with others in a dynamic teamwork environment.
  • Possessing a valid drivers license an asset
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows as well as show a willingness to learn new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operation.

  • Developper une base de contacts
  • Remplir et classer les rapports de dépenses et autres rapports nécessaires en temps opportun et avec précision.
  • Utiliser et entretenir en toute sécurité le véhicule de lentreprise, au besoin.
  • Effectuer dautres tâches au besoin.

  • Minimum 3 ans dexpérience en tant que journaliste
  • Excellente maîtrise de la langue anglaise et bonne compréhension du français
  • Compétent dans le reportage, la rédaction, lédition et la production de contenu engageant pour les plateformes de diffusion, en ligne et de médias sociaux.
  • Capacité démontrée à créer, organiser et développer du contenu à laide de systèmes dexploitation numériques pour plusieurs plateformes.
  • Solides compétences en matière de présentation en direct.
  • Excellentes compétences en matière de rédaction de reportages et de rédaction.
  • Capacité de travailler indépendamment.
  • Doit bien travailler sous pression et avoir une attitude positive.
  • Capacité à respecter des échéances quotidiennes strictes et à travailler en collaboration avec les autres dans un environnement de travail déquipe dynamique.
  • Posséder un permis de conduire valide sera un atout
  • Capacité à sadapter à lévolution rapide de la technologie et des flux de travail ainsi quà montrer une volonté dacquérir de nouvelles compétences en ligne dans une opération dinformation numérique à multiples facettes.
