Job PostingJob Title: Early Childhood Educator 2 positions Department: Child CareReports to: Child Care Manager/Child Care Assistant ManagerTerms of Employment: Full Time 40 hrs per week starting: April 1, 2024Closing Date: March 11, 2024Mission StatementThe Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. RODS is committed to meeting the needs of newcomers by offering programs and services to enable them to achieve their goals and participate fully in the larger community.Position SummaryThe Early Childhood Educator provides daily programming, care and supervision to children ages 6 weeks to 6 years in the Regina Open Door Child Care Centre within a team environment according to Saskatchewan Early Learning and Child Care regulations and centre policies and procedures. (One position will have a programming focus that includes individualized program plans and support for a designated child to ensure participation withing the larger group and to meet developmental needs)Requirements This individual must be professional, friendly, possess excellent communication skills and have knowledge of and experience with child-centered, play-based early childhood practices. Early Childhood Educators must be able to work collaboratively and cooperatively within a team setting.

  • Saskatchewan Early Childhood Education Certification-Level 1, 2 or 3
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a Canadian daycare is preferred
  • Valid First Aid/CPR C
  • Criminal Record Check-including a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Knowledge of/experience with Saskatchewan child care regulations and the Early Learning Program Guide (ELPG)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • prepare and submit a semi-monthly programming report to document children #39;s learning and development based on children #39;s ideas and interests, following the ELPG

  • contribute to the presentation of materials and room arrangement to provide a stimulating environment that supports all areas of child development
Daily Routines/Health and Safety
  • maintain cleanliness of play and common areas including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, sanitation of toys and surfaces, garbage, general tidying/organizing etc.
  • oversee children #39;s daily routines of diapering/toileting, meals/feeding, dressing and provide assistance as needed
  • ensure proper supervision of children and ratio requirements at all times. This includes all aspects ofquot;active supervision quot; as outlined by the Ministry of Education such as environment design, staff positioning, child engagement, activity planning, children #39;s behaviour, head counts/transitions/excursions, and staff communications/interactions
  • keep accurate attendance records
Communication
  • communicate daily with parents regarding children #39;s learning and needs both orally and written as required
  • communicate with parents regarding policies and procedures of the centre as needed and direct to management when necessary
  • communicate effectively with coworkers regarding children and programming as well as to deal with issues and concerns
  • communicate with management regarding program feedback, issues and concerns
Direct ReportsNoneWorking Conditions and Application InstructionsMust be physically able to perform all required duties of an educator for all age groups of children including active supervision of children-indoors and outdoors, daily cleaning and daily programming.Our centre prides itself with a friendly, culturally diverse and family-like environment for our staff and families to provide a high- quality early learning experience for children.Hours of work for this position are 8 hours per day Monday to Friday within the hours of 7:30am to 5:30pm, with an unpaid 30 minute break. All positions at RODS require a clean criminal record check.
