Position SummaryThe Ng’s Group invites applications for postdoctoral fellow positions starting April/May 2024. The successful candidate(s) will work on interdisciplinary research projects related to (i) post-consumer clothing and textile waste management, and/or (ii) nuclear waste management from small modular reactors. The projects are partly funded by NSERC (clothing waste project by Discovery Horizons, and nuclear waste project by Alliance). The PDF will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Kelvin Tsun Wai Ng in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.Dr. Ng’s major fields of interest are in sustainable solid waste management, disposal facility design, and data-driven waste policy. A list of publications from our group can be found here: https://uregina.ca/~ng224/Publications.htmlKey duties:(1) Provide day-to-day supervision of graduate and undergraduate students(2) Conduct research and publish papers, prepare grant proposals(3) Manage projects and budgets, provide oral and written updates to partners(4) Other related administrative duties (organization of events/webinars, etc.)Position RequirementsPosition Requirements (multiple openings, typically a 2-year contract, with the possibility of renewal):(1) The candidate must have an earned PhD degree in Environmental Systems Engineering, or a closely related field such as Civil and Environmental Engineering.(2) The candidate must have a strong publication record (n gt;9) in the field of solid waste management. Experience in publishing waste studies in the following journals is valuable: JofCP, JofEM, RCR, WM, SCS, SotTE.(3) Holder of PEng license is an asset.(4) Experience with the regulatory sector in Canada is an asset.(5) Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.(6) Excellent project management skills.(7) Demonstrated core values of leadership and mentorship.
