Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY AWAITS YOUREAL finds itself in the enviable position of managing one of the most interesting and versatile connected spaces in North America with an opportunity to impact the lives of millions by creating life-long memories and delivering exceptional experiences.The Surveillance Officer provides 24-7 campus surveillance monitoring and emergency response services and is responsible for monitoring activities of the Regina Exhibition Association Limited campus to ensure compliance with provincial laws, municipal bylaws and internal policies and procedures. The Surveillance Officer is accountable to identify breaches of REAL policies and procedures, criminal activities, viewing and reviewing video surveillance, analyzing information, making decisions and taking appropriate action including escalation of immediate breaches and/or emergency response to internal leadership and/or external police/fire/EMS services. WHAT YOU WILL DO1. Day-to-day management of Surveillance Operations to ensure 24-7 monitoring and compliance of REAL campus activities providing security and to safeguard customers, staff, and assets by:

  • Maintain continuous surveillance of all areas and property; and identify, record, document and report unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Coordinate responses to inquiries and needs for assistance via 24/7 Security Operations Centre phoneline.
  • Notify the appropriate personnel in an emergency or escalated security incident which may include initiating alarms, calling emergency service personnel, dispatching security personnel on shift, and notification to appropriate leadership team member(s).
  • Operate surveillance equipment and ensure accurate video documentation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logs; assist or lead investigations.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports/information to Security Management of all life safety events, access control, video surveillance and dispatch security operators.
  • Comply with confidentiality regulations regarding all surveillance information including camera coverage, investigations, and proprietary material.
2. Oversees the day-to-day shift operations and activities, administrative functions, and administrative support of the Security Operations Centre.3. Lead and develop strong teams to carry out business unit strategies. 4. Serves as a member of REAL’s Management Team.5. Performs other duties on an as and when required basis.Target shifts are Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Shifts may vary according to business needs.RequirementsWHAT IT TAKESEducation and ExperienceGrade twelve (12) education and/or a post-secondary education certificate/diploma in a related field is preferred.Minimum of two (2) years of experience in surveillance, security control, security/emergency dispatch or providing security services in a busy, publicly activated environment.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to change Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others Ability to establish and maintain strong and positive relationships with key clients Demonstrated proficiency for managing multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes. Strong time-management skills and a proven track record of delivering quality results, with attention to details. Computer proficiency required including advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, databases and the internet. Excellent decision making skills Leadership Competencies include Managing Teams, Relationships, Development of Others, Innovation and the Future, Continuous Improvement, Accountability for Performance and Results. Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset. May work odd or long hours at a time to complete operational requirements, projects or to participate in or coordinate evening and off-hour activities. Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
