Job Description

Job Title: Bilingual Patient SitterDate: May, 22nd, 2024Location: Ottawa, ONRemote: NoBusiness Unit: HealthDepartment: Health ServicesCalian is looking to hire a Patient Sitter.Qualifications:

  • Communication in English is required. French is an asset.
  • Must be able to work shifts (day, evening, night).
  • Must have a current CPR certificate.
  • Must have a recent (within the last 1 year) police check for the vulnerable sector.
  • Must have a negative TB test from within the last 1 year.
  • Must have a mobile device and access to the internet.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor patients for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to respond swiftly.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Must have a high degree of patience.
  • Must be calm and respectful.
  • Must be proficient with technology.
Patient Sitter Expectations:
  • Sitters are expected to dress in a professional manner with an identification badge.
  • Sitters are required to sit in the patient #39;s room.
  • Sitters are to be attentive and observe the patient at all times.
  • Sitters are permitted to read while the patient sleeps (no phones or tablets/earbuds).
  • Sitters are required to report all concerns and/or observations as they occur to the patient #39;s assigned nurse.
  • Sitters are to communicate and converse with the patient.
  • Sitters are to never leave a patient unattended under any circumstances.
  • Sitters are not to engage in extended conversations with other patients.
  • Sitters are not to give advice to patients.
  • Sitters must maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
