Job Description

Our client, a major OEM in the Aerospace industry in Montreal is currently looking to add an Avionics systems engineer to help support their team. As an Avionics Systems / Engineering Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the development, testing, certification, production, and in-service support of Avionics Systems for state-of-the-art business aircraft. Reporting directly to the Section Chief, Avionics Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, certification, and adherence to aircraft design requirements and objectives.Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and manage overall systems and subsystem requirements to ensure safety, certification, and aircraft design objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with system suppliers and interfacing suppliers and disciplines to ensure the smooth integration of Avionics Systems into the aircraft.
  • Ensure timely integration of various Avionics Systems, including AFCS, Communication (VHF, HF, SATCOM, Datalink), Navigation (ADF, VOR, ILS, DME, TCAS, Transponder, IRS, GPS, FMS, Weather Radar), Displays (EFIS, EICAS, HUD, SVS), Information/Maintenanceamp; Recording (IMS, OMS, Data load, CVR, FDR, AHMS).
  • Write, conduct, or witness development and certification tests on the aircraft and/or on rigs, and review and approve the test results.
  • Conduct and support ARP4754 system and aircraft verification and validations.
  • Manage, review, and approve the deliverables of the Avionics System Suppliers.
  • Liaise with Certifying Authorities and/or support their delegates in achieving system certification.
  • Support the Final Assembly Line and In-Service aircraft for any design-related issues and ensure their resolution.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of tools and processes to meet organizational objectives.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of software for customization of crew alerting logic, synoptics pages, I/O configuration into an IMA environment, and automation of aircraft-level functions.
Qualifications: To be the ideal candidate for this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
  • A university degree in Electrical, Electronics, Software, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Solid experience and strong knowledge of Avionics Systems.
  • Understanding of how these systems integrate and interact within the overall aircraft.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems (Asset).
  • Familiarity with the industry standards DO-178, DO-160, and ARP4754 (Asset).
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, work planning structure, and prioritization abilities.
  • A collaborative team player with a willingness to travel.
