Job DescriptionReporting to the Chief Corporate Controller, the Controller will be responsible for all the accounting activities related to the manufacturing sites and distribution centers. You will play a strategic role on the finance team that will help Techo-Bloc continue to grow and you will participate on projects that will make a real impact.A day in a life:Your day begins with a presentation to the CEO regarding the monthly financial results, followed by a morning coffee with the IT Manager regarding the ERP implementation. You then take some time to think about how to create GL mapping for the new HRIS system. You take a break for lunch and recharge. Later in the afternoon you investigate a large inventory variance and set up a call with the director of purchasing and production. Your workday ends with a one on one with your assistant controller. Finally you log off and head out for dinner and go-karting with the finance team!In your role, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure the timely production of the monthly and annual financial statements including detailed explanatory appendices according to deadlines;
  • Lead the analysis, configuration, testing, trouble shooting and implementation of special projects (ex. FS consolidation, new bonus programs, ERP implementation, etc);
  • Conduct complex financial analysis and produce all required financial reports;
  • Investigate variances by contacting relevant departments;
  • Be able to maintain a credible rapport with the external Canadian and American auditors. The Controller is the resource person for the Canadian and / or American tax authorities for the manufacturing sites under his or her responsibility;
  • Ensure rigorous management of cost control activities;
  • Produce and coordinate the budget process with each department;
  • Publish different performance indicator ratios;
  • Establish, review and update internal controls;
  • Participate in the improvement of accounting processes:
  • Train and motivate your team;
  • Participate in the business case process for all new products and projects;
  • Manage fixed assets(purchases, sales, dispositions and transfers);
  • Maintain a tax and legal watch of the accounting activities of the company;
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in accounting;
  • Accounting title;
  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant accounting experience;
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Experience in cost and financial control;
  • Excellent command of integrated management systems (ERP) such as Microsoft AX or SAP;
  • Excellent command of Office Suite and a master at Excel;
  • Bilingualism orally and written is essential;
