To learn more about who we are visit our website and explore the Advanced Technologies section – www.calian.comPosition:The Ground Systems Analyst will provide support to Satellite Control Systems (SCS) operations, perform analysis and maintenance of SCS hardware and software including related manual procedures considering the mission evolution, system status and continued health. The GSA position counts four different levels depending on employee qualifications and responsibilities: Entry, Intermediate, Senior and Lead.Responsibilities: (These statements reflect the primary aspects of the position and should not be construed as a detailed description of all work requirements inherent in the position)Provide expert advice and resolve anomalies related to the SCS operations on an on-call basisPerform network and systems administration functions, such as:assess the SCS performanceidentify any system level issuesupgrade and develop new functionsmaintain or improve the system hardware and software to increase system availability or performanceProvide support to future mission operations development, LEOP and commissioningEnsure operator identified issues are resolved in a timely mannerProvide for internal staff training (including cross-training) to ensure that existing and new personnel are able to perform assigned tasksProvide assistance to the Supervisor Satellite Engineering (SSE) and Manager Satellite Operations (MSO) when requested as long as such assistance does not conflict with ongoing satellite operations engineering support requirementsProvide support to customer personnel, Calian Advanced Technology headquarters, and external agencies not involved in daily satellite engineering activities when such support is authorized in advance by the MSO and does not conflict with higher priority satellite engineering support requirementsThe GSA must provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotational basisQualifications:Post-secondary technical education, eithera D.E.C. or equivalent as a minimumUniversity Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalentFluent knowledge of both spoken and written EnglishExperience with one or more of the following elements would be an asset:Languages; C/C++, SQL, Unix Shell Script, Matlab, Labview, Perl, Python, PHP, JavaOperating systems; UNIX, Microsoft Windows products, LinuxDatabase Management Systems; PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL serverSoftware development and documentationBest practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructureNetwork troubleshooting and problem resolutionAbility to set up and configure server hardware and virtualized systemsBackup and recovery software and methodologiesThis position requires qualities such as autonomy, team spirit, adaptability, stability, analytical skills, sense of responsibility and a willingness to learnWhy Work for Calian Advanced TechnologiesOpportunity to make an impact by building and supporting projects that millions of people depend on dailyA team-oriented work environment that promotes learning, collaboration, and skill improvementAnnual salary and performance reviews, with one-on-one sessions to support career developmentRobust company paid benefit and pension plan with the option to participate in the employee stock purchase planCompetitive salaries with paid overtimeThe ability to meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
