Our company #39;s success is driven by our dynamic, highly skilled, and innovative management team, supported by dedicated employees who live in coastal communities and contribute to the local area #39;s economy and sense of community.Reporting to the Global Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Managing Director oversees and leads all operations of the North American organization/operation by fostering the alignment of people and resources and championing operational excellence and sustainability by driving efficiency, financial performance and profitability, employee engagement and stakeholder relations.The Managing Director is a dynamic leader, providing guidance and support to their talented leadership team, with overall responsibility for product development and quality, cost management, North American P amp;L, human resources, and partnerships functions within the organization (i.e. sales and marketing). An inclusive leader, the Managing Director promotes a culture of empowerment, accountability, and results.Responsibilities:- Overall leadership and direction of seawater and freshwater operations for North America.- Operations oversight spanning the Atlantic provinces in Canada USA states of Maine and Washington.- Responsible for the vertically integrated farming operations supporting over 50,000 MT of Salmon and trout production.- Development and execution of the annual stocking plans. - Provides overall direction to the Harvest plan.- Responsible for managing the annual operating budget, including an annual capital expenditure budget of $35M, forecast, and communication of various business needs.- Fiscal responsibility in all aspects of operational cost management.- Oversight of significant CAPEX growth projects.- Maintain a long-term vision for the operations and a 5 year CAPEX plan.- Ability to understand and interpret complex fish farming business dynamics including government regulations, environmental monitoring, site infrastructure, development processes, etc.- In charge of the North American fish health department and program including vaccines, treatments, sea lice treatment strategy, and execution of the sea lice treatment plan.- Responsible for the North American Salmon broodstock program; and the North American Lumpfish program.- Provide high-level industry leadership.- Leadership and support to the various certification schemes, environmental and regulatory compliance, and Occupational Health and Safety - Develop and maintain an ongoing operational plan.- Participate in strategic planning with the executive team.- Responsible for key biological performance indicators.- Build networks inside and outside of the organization.- Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.Experience Needed and Skills:- Extensive senior management expertise in salmon and trout farming and experience in hatcheries, freshwater, and saltwater marine sites- A deep understanding of the complexity of the fish farming business dynamics- Expert knowledge of Aquaculture farming from egg to harvest a requirement- Possesses the highest sense of urgency in managing and navigating complex farming and regulatory environments- An understanding of process improvement initiatives and concepts.- Operational plan development and execution- Interacting with government regulators, environmental monitoring, site infrastructure, and development processes- Solid business planning with experience in finance and budgeting, cost planning, and managementMust have a College or University degree in Aquaculture, Biology, Veterinarian Studies, or another related discipline.Having very strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.Applications are to be sent to Chandra Davis at cd@seafoodpeople.nethttps://seafoodpeople.recman.no/job.phpjob_id=331581The OpportunityThe role description is just one part of the story.
