Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF THE ADJOINT ADMINISTRATIF, TO SUPPORT CAPITAL PROJECTS AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF ALL BUILDINGS, EXTERIOR EQUIPMENT, ELECTRICAL AND CONTROL SYSTEMS AND IMPLEMENTS REGULAR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS. THIS EMPLOYEE MAY PERFORM THE SAME DUTIES AS THE ELECTRICIAN, HOWEVER WORKS MORE INDEPENDENTLY AND CARRIES OUT THE MORE COMPLEX TASKS.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be responsible for the operation, maintenance and verification of electrical and control systems and other related equipment.
  • Implement maintenance programs for all electrical systems.
  • Perform regular inspections and testing – immediate repairs, recommendation for major repairs or necessary improvements as required after College approval.
  • Set up and maintain an inventory of services as well as parts necessary for the safe operations of all systems.
  • May coordinate and supervise work of less experienced or non-specialized workers.
  • Detection and identification of malfunctions and the restoration, alteration, repair and maintenance of any electrical equipment of conduction (for lighting, heating, air conditioning, ventilation and motor power purposes), communication, switching and transmission systems.
  • Periodic examinations of electrical circuits for preventive maintenance purposes.
  • Electrical entrances: installs distribution panels and conducts, runs wires and makes the necessary connections. Ensures that the premises and the equipment used are safe.
  • Performs other related tasks as may be assigned, such as supporting capital projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:EducationPossess a valid Electrician certificate issued in accordance with:Loi sur la formation et la qualification professionnelle de la main-d’oeuvre (L.R.Q., chapitre F-5, r.1) par le Ministre de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale.ORPossess a valid journeyman Electrician certificate issued in accordance with: Loi sur les relations du travail, la formation professionnelle et la gestion de la main-d’oeuvre dans l’industrie de la construction (L.R.Q., chapitre R-20).Specific Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate in either English or French; bilingual preferred
