Job Description

Intermediate Electrical EngineerAbout TWD Technologies Ltd:TWD is an engineering, procurement, and construction management consulting company providing project development, execution and specialty engineering services with expertise ranging from infrastructure and building design to refineries, pipelines, terminalling and blending, renewables, food and beverage, power, downstream chemical processing and much more. Our team is dedicated to providing clients with effective business and technical solutions through exceptional levels of service, innovation and flexibility.TWD is currently seeking a Intermediate Electrical Engineer to support our client in Sarnia, ON as an Independent Contractor. The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of electrical design by the electrical project teams. The role will be in charge of leading projects for the goal to successfully implement the designs developed to meet our client #39;s requirements. The Senior Electrical Engineer oversees solutions to technical problems and is responsible for job planning and quality production.Job Responsibilities:

  • This position requires thorough knowledge of design and engineering, electrical procurement and construction activities.
  • Perform electrical design and calculations in accordance with the relevant Canadian and Industrial (API, IEEE, NEC) Standards and client preferences.
  • Support proposal preparation, estimates, design basis, engineering estimates and construction work packages at each design phase (FEED, DBM, Detailed Engineering).
  • Manage projects of varying sizes within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Perform power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination and arc flash, including report writing
  • Design and review of engineering deliverables such as:
    • Hazardous Area Classification Drawings;
    • Single Line diagrams, schematic and wiring diagrams;
    • Grounding and lighting drawings, cable/conduit/tray routing plans, substation and equipment layouts, cable schedules, panel schedules;
    • Equipment sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop, lighting calculations;
  • Preparation and review of specifications, data sheets, technical bid evaluations and procurement documentation for LV/MV equipment
  • Review and sign off Inspection Test Plans and quality check forms
  • Follow up with Electrical suppliers’ representative and facilitate electrical testing and commissioning at site
  • Respond to site RFIs based on applicable standards and electrical codes
  • When required, assumes a project lead role for completing specific tasks, including checking and provide technical guidance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) degree, or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the oil and gas sector
  • Experience developing engineering estimates, schedules, and resource plans for electrical engineering work
  • Professional Engineering License in the Province of Ontario is required
  • Experience with design of LV, MV, and HV power distribution systems for industrial facilities is required
  • Experience with electrical area classifications for oilamp; gas facilities is required
  • Experience with arc flash protection and studies is required
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Plant3D an asset
  • Solid knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, codes, and requirements (CEC, ISA, NFPA)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently when required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
