A continued emphasis on the development of a representative workforce is one of Sask Polytech’s strategic priorities and, as an organization, we are making significant efforts to attract and retain Indigenous employees.Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)Job DutiesJob DutiesReporting to the Program Head, Instructional and Leadership Development Centre (ILDC), the successful candidate will work independently and as part of a provincial instructional team. This could occur in a number of different ways, including creation of online training modules and resources, delivery of education programs and training sessions on various instructional topics. The primary responsibility for the position is to develop and deliver training on curriculum design topics to Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering professional development opportunities for faculty to incorporate principles of adult learning into their professional practice for the benefit of all learners.

  • Develop and deliver resources for curricular and pedagogical innovation to individual faculty and departments wanting to incorporate adult learning principles into their curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Assist in the analysis of learning goals, learners, and learning context for course design and evaluation.
  • Develop and deliver training and online resources on effective writing skills and writing for learner engagement to Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty.
  • Advance instructional and academic leadership development among faculty by utilizing and modeling active learning techniques and through the development of a mentoring network.
  • Advance instructional and academic leadership development among faculty by utilizing and modeling active learning techniques and through the development of a mentoring network.
  • Lead the development of a Saskatchewan Polytechnic learning community where faculty expertise is fully utilized in the areas of curriculum development, effective writing skills, and evaluation and assessment techniques.
  • Promote the community of practice and life-long learning through professional development sessions and individualized sessions, conferences and, in general, fostering a climate of best practices in adult education (includes active learning).
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCESpecific AccountabilitiesDutiesRequired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
  • Master’s degree in Education, Adult Education, Curriculum Studies, Educational Technology; or a Master’s degree in progress (to be completed within a year); or equivalent combination of education and experience in teaching and working with adult learners.
  • Minimum two years recent, relevant experience in curriculum design, and developing and delivering training/instruction to adult learners.
  • Experience in developing online education (knowledge of Brightspace is preferred).
  • Experience in the use and integration of technology and technology-enabled learning in curriculum and instruction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
