  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customer and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Performs work in accordance with construction and installation plans, standards, inspectionamp; test plans, safety and technical procedures, repair, and maintenance requirements on Transmission, Distribution, and Substation.
  • Performs the installation, relocation, and/or removal of civil works, wires, communication cables, and other power facilities.
  • Performs the assembly and installation of civil, structural, electrical, and communication equipment affiliated with power facilities.
  • Works in conjunction with other trades and contractors to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Prepares records, forms, and work activity reports.
  • Assists in the training of subordinate personnel in proper operational, safety and technical methods and procedures.
  • Creates time and attendance records and submits same to foremen.
  • Inspects and confirms safe operation of tools, instruments, devices, and mobile equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Class 1 or 3 drivers license with air brake endorsements
  • Operators certificate of radial boom devices, mobile equipment and aerial man-lifts.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Work methods and procedures in the repair and installation of over overhead and underground electrical powerlines (Transmission, Distribution, and Substation).
    • Repair and maintenance procedures applicable to PLT/electrical trade.
    • Fundamental principles of electricity.
    • Use of safety equipment and protective gear.
    • Applicable test instruments, hand, and power tools.
    • Applicable safety and code standards specific to the PLT/electrical trade.
    • Familiar with the operation and maintenance of related equipment.
  • Experience with live line stick work
  • Experience with rubber glove work
  • High voltage training certification is preferred.
  • Proficient with computer applications such as MS Office.
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking, active listening, communication, and organization skills.
  • First Aid Certification, WHMIS, Confined Space Awareness.
  • Flexible with travel up to 100% of the time.
EDUCATION
  • Currently indentured as a registered apprentice PLT.
  • OR Successful completion of a registered Power Line Technician (PLT) apprenticeship training program and journeyperson status. (Interprovincial Red Seal is preferred); Additional training or post-secondary coursework in project management is an asset.
LANGUAGES
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
