Job Description

This position will work from one of the following locations: Tisdale, Yorkton, Melville, Preeceville, Weyburn, Estevan, Moosomin, Raymore, Humboldt, Moose Jaw or Davidson.What youll do:

  • Reporting to the Manager, Customer Service in the Insurance Unit, this position is responsible for conducting and coordinating field related research, troubleshooting problem yield situations for the Crop Insurance program, and developing and interpreting policy and programs.
  • Coordinate and lead field staff in the identification, evaluation and revision to all adjusting procedural changes as well as to the policy and procedure manual.
  • Investigate, analyze and recommend changes to policies and procedures identified through field operations.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports that outline and interpret the finding of studies for management.
  • Provide consultation and field analysis to the Research & Development division on all proposed policy changes to ensure compatibility with standard agriculture and adjusting practices and to ensure acceptability to customers.
  • Through analysis, research, and studies make specific recommendations to management and staff on methods of solving problems presented for study or possible solutions.
  • Assist in the identification of cause of loss and/or the determination of amount of yield loss in appeals.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to plan and carry out complex research related to SCIC procedures; including the collection, examination and compilation of data.
  • Collaborate with academic, professional, and other jurisdictions authorities concerning problems encountered on studies, their significance, and solutions.
Qualifications:
  • To be successful in this position you will need a degree in Agriculture with a minimum of one year experience in analysis and research. Must be eligible for membership in the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.
  • Extensive knowledge of agriculture including agriculture issues, policies and programs.
  • Superior knowledge of statistical methods and their application to agricultural research.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Superior reading and comprehension skills with the ability to understand complex journal articles with statistical information.
  • Knowledge of computers, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • A criminal record check is required.
  • Should the successful candidate participate in the Crop Insurance or AgriStability Programs, their account must be in good standing.
  • A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel throughout the province.
  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
  • Drivers License
