Job Description

Valard Construction LP (Valard) is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies and part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.Our Fleet Department is seeking a Full-Time Apprentice/Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic or Truck and Transport Technician to join our team.Requirements

  • Maintenance and repair of internal combustion engines and components, both stationary and mobile
  • Certified in off-road and on-road vehicle maintenance
  • Maintenance and repair of gas engines, diesel engines, and compressors
  • Maintenance and repair of tracked equipment (e.g. crawler tractors)
  • Maintenance and repair of ground engaging equipment and components
  • Maintenance and repair of earth moving equipment
  • Maintenance and repair of tractors
  • Maintenance and repair of on-highway and off-highway motor vehicles (e.g. trucks)
  • Maintenance and repair of towed on-highway and off-highway vehicles (e.g. trailers)
  • Must be able to interpret work orders and technical manuals
  • Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
  • General testing and repairs of equipment for proper performance, ensuring that the work is done meets manufacturers #39; specifications and legislated regulations
  • Write detailed and accurate service/maintenance reports
  • Mentor and provide sufficient training with Heavy Duty Mechanic apprentices as required
  • Have a valid class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Must be willing to travel out of town when required
  • Performed all other duties as assigned
  • Preference will be given to applicants with utility equipment experience (digger, crane and backhoe)
  • Class 1 or 3 driver’s license is an asset
  • CVIP certification would be considered an asset
