Job Description

Job descriptionAlpha College offers post-secondary and language programs to both domestic and international students in Toronto. Our vision is to prepare and empower students to become global citizens who make an impact on their communities through leadership and collaboration.Alpha College is a registered education provider through Alpha College of Business and Technology with the Ministry Colleges and Universities, Private Career Colleges Branch. Through this branch, Alpha College offers quality training to domestic and international students in their desired discipline and has a partnership with St. Lawrence College. Following the St. Lawrence curriculum, each semester is designed to meet the challenges unique to international students and exceed academic expectations through a combination of theory and hands-on experience.The Role: Reporting to the Academic Operations Manager, the Academic Coordinator supports the faculty and academic team at Alpha College. This role supports quality assurance of courses to ensure they are in alignment with St. Lawrence, along with assisting in faculty observations, schedule coordination and supporting students through coordinating academic concerns.Highlight of Duties:

  • Create, maintain and update a large volume of students account;
  • Provide all material, outlines, equipment, and textbooks for new and existing faculty to ensure they have everything necessary to effectively deliver their lectures;
  • Work closely with Academic Manager to assist with the development and execution of Alpha’s academic QA process;
  • Assist in performing Instructor Observations and providing feedback for improvement;
  • Support the preparation of material and present at student and faculty orientations;
  • Collect and examine Course Portfolios at the end of each semester ensuring quality standards are always being met;
  • Support student academic issues including academic dishonesty, poor classroom behaviour, medical notes, appeals, etc.
  • Assist with the student complaint process, ensuring they are recorded and resolved, liaising with St. Lawrence College when required for serious issues;
  • Maintain detailed notes on student incidents in the database;
  • Assist on program and academic matters including: program/course registration, program transfers/credits, dropping/adding courses, plagiarism policy information, etc.;
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Experience and Educational Requirements
  • 2-5 years in an academic setting, with preference given to PCC experience
  • Previous experience working with faculty members and students preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in business or similar field required
  • Intermediate in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and critical thinking
  • Strong cross-cultural communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • High degree of time management skills and able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
