Be the chef in your home kitchen and try PORTA today.The RoleMaterial Handler / Forklift OperatorWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Forklift and Material Handling Operator to join the PORTA Team! The successful candidate will be responsible for handling, arranging, and organizing materials and products within our facility, including driving a Forklift, managing the pallet freezer, de-boxing raw materials, receiving and shipping. RequirementsKey Responsibilities:

• Arranging and Placing Finished Products: Utilize a forklift to arrange and place finished products on racks in the pallet freezer according to company standards and procedures.
• Organize Pallet Freezer: Ensure the pallet freezer is well-organized and maintained to optimize storage space and facilitate easy access to products.
• Receiving and Shipping: Manage incoming and outgoing shipments, including loading, and unloading materials and products from trucks using the forklift. Verify quantities and quality of shipments and update records as necessary.
• Maintaining a Clean and Safe Environment: Maintain cleanliness in the holding cooler. Ensuring to keep a clean working environment by adhering to waste management and recycling guidelines.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Inventory Management: Keep track of inventory levels in the pallet freezer and holding cooler and report any discrepancies or low stock levels to the supervisor.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to coordinate material handling tasks and ensure efficient workflow.
• Other duties as assigned

About You:

• Proven experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment in a warehouse or production environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects, sometimes over extended periods.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to forklift operation and material handling.
• Basic understanding of inventory management and record-keeping.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Ability to work in a cold environment (pallet freezer and holding cooler).

Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Forklift certification
• Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing, warehouse, or production environment is an asset
