HOUSING CONSULTANT- Job ID: 42326- Job Category: Communityamp; Social Services- Divisionamp; Section: Housing Secretariat, Housing Stability Services- Work Location: 1530 Markham Road, Scarborough Ontario- Job Typeamp; Duration: Full-time, Permanent vacancy- Salary: $112,000- $144,200 annually- Shift Information: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week - On-site- Number of Positions Open: 2- Posting Period: 27-Oct-2023 to 10-Nov-2023Job Summary and Major Responsibilities:Are you driven to make tangible impacts towards housing security for vulnerable Torontonians Do you enjoy leading a program in a fast-paced, high-profileenvironment, and want to play an integral role in contributing to the City #39;s HousingTO Action Plan aimed atupstreamsolutions to prevent homelessness If thisappeals to your interests, submit your application for the Housing Consultant position with the Eviction Prevention in the Community (EPIC) programThe EPIC program exemplifies the City #39;s commitment to deliver preventative approaches to homelessness by assisting vulnerable households facing imminent risk of eviction to prevent loss of housing, avert homelessness and preserve affordable housing stock in Toronto.Reporting to the Manager, and working as part of a collaborative management team, you will ensure peopleat imminent risk of evictionare effectively and efficiently connected withsupports to sustain their housing.Through monitoring performance indicators, addressing barriers, and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple sectors, you will contribute to improvinghousing stabilityoutcomes at an individual and system level.As a key member of the EPIC senior management team, you will lead staff teams responsible for program eligibility, case management services, resource management, stakeholder engagement and community outreach. Responsibilities will include the oversight of daily operations, while working on process efficiencies, relationship development, service delivery improvement, capacity building and overall innovation within the Program.In this role, you will develop and implement processes, policies, and systems for data collectionthat improve the results-based accountability of the Program and Housing Secretariat Division. You will monitor and review program outcomes on an ongoing basis and adapt and adjustoperational prioritiesbased on up-to date data on system-level impacts and emerging issues. This includes monitoring the contractual requirements of service providers to ensure compliance, financial accountability, and performance.As a savvy communicator, you will develop key messages for media inquiries and prepare briefing notes, justification memos, and presentations for diverse audiences, from senior management, Councillors and the Mayor #39;s Office to community stakeholders and members of the public.Yourfamiliaritywith budgeting and administrationofagency or grants programswill be a major asset in this role.Overall success for a Housing Consultant in the EPIC Program also involves a thorough understandingof a housing first principle,the knowledge of eviction processes in Ontario, the application of housing stability / sustainability concepts, strong stakeholder engagement methodology, and comprehension of the housing and homelessness prevention resources that exist in Toronto.Key Qualifications:- Post-secondary education in a discipline relevant to the position or an equivalent combination of education and experience.- Considerable project management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, in a fast-paced, high profile environment.- Considerable experience in the administration and delivery of housing, housing benefits, grants to non-profits or similar programs that require working within a legislative (or similar) accountability framework.- Experience in stakeholder relations with a high level of ability to influence and negotiate outcomes effectively.- Experience supervising, coordinating, and motivating staff, conducting performance appraisals and managing labour relations matters- Experience working with and interpreting financial and non-financial data, with ability to use the data to assess program-related outcomes against established performance measures.- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to take initiative and problem solve.- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize information into clear and concise messages and prepare and deliver presentations, coupled with political acuity.- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy, tact and political acuity.- Ability to work effectively with electronic spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software.- Ability to travel within Toronto to attend in person meetings with partner agencies and stakeholders and/or deliver training sessions and workshops - this may involve working extended hours when required.Equity, Diversity and InclusionThe City is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to creating a workplace culture of inclusiveness that reflects the diverse residents that we serve.
