In this role, you will provide effective leadership, guidance and direction for entire Security Department. You will ensure compliance with all standardized safety and security policies and procedures within the company. You will safeguard the company’s property from legal improprieties and loss, and recommend, review and implement Safety and Security programs.As a Security Manager, you will be responsible for:Leadership:Driving customer service philosophies as part of the everyday operation of the Security Department.Making recommendations and leading the Security Department.Providing coaching for ASM and Supervisors to ensure growth and adequate resources to make decisions and lead team.Approving hiring of security staff and building programs to retain talent and foster growth.Looking for opportunities to enhance training programs via industry experts, education and workshops on relevant issues and topics that add value for department.Developing an engagement program to foster trust and transparency.Sponsoring asset/corporate wide initiatives and finding opportunities to connect the Security team to overall strategy.Managing Union relations and overseeing grievance resolution/HR matters with GM support.Maintaining efficiency and good order of the Security department and processes – security briefs, opening/closing procedures/ SOP, scheduling, etc. Monitoring on a continual basis and provide SM/Supervisors coaching for change where required.Stakeholder Relations:Ensuring tenant and customer satisfaction and attitudes towards safety at the centre. Overseeing Security processes and making changes where required to enhance the experience.Managing Capital and Expense management as it pertains to the Security Department in partnership with Accounting, PA and Operations Manager. Overseeing budget, reforecasts and accruals.Managing tenant relations as it pertains to store openings, special events and line up management in partnership with Property Manager.Overseeing security related complaints and infractions and support with resolutions to ensure tenant/customer satisfaction.Acting as a liaison with key stakeholders - TPS, Fire, Ministry of Health, Risk and National program on relevant issues and foster community partnerships.Driving Security and Life Safety needs and provide recommendations via Development and Leasing opportunities.Managing all 3rd party vendors and contracts as it pertains to Security & Life Safety.Coordinating all claims on property related to medical, injuries, slip & falls, etc. and coordinate with risk/insurance.Security, Life Safety and Emergency Management:Ensuring the Shopping Centre aligns with corporate emergency procedures and leading training programs to implement amongst tenants and internal staff.Ensuring Emergency Response Plan is current and processes align with National Program guidance and industry standards.Leading training/audits as required and site has the adequate resources and training for Emergency Response – Annual Fire Drills, ICS Training, Bomb Threats, Pandemic, Emergency Evacuations and Emergency Response, etc.Leading Security program rollouts and special projects as directed by the General Manager.Developing and implementing tenant security awareness programs.Health and Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Ensuring compliance where applicable, all employer responsibilities prescribed under the applicable provincial Health and Safety Act.Knowing and applying legislative roles and responsibilities pursuant to the Occupational H&S Act. Complying with and enforcing provisions of this Act and Corporate H&S procedures.Overseeing the H&S Program and advisory lead on H&S committee in the performance of their duties. Ensuring frequent meetings are conducted and H&S board is relevant and updated.Ensuring committee conducts follow up on safety inspections of the workplace and work with department heads to adequately address noted hazards and resolve. Notifying, as appropriate, all occupants, employees, customers, suppliers, contractors, etc. regarding any potential hazards.Auditing supervision structure for all departments to ensure workplace safety, and proper use of personal protective equipment.Supporting ASM to conduct accident, illness, injury and near-miss investigations as required by the Corporate H&S Manual. Providing prescribed notification to the Ministry of Labour in case of accidents or injury pursuant to legislative requirements.Supporting ASM to administer the H&S program administration and WSIB, modified work and claims management assistance, as required. Ensuring provision of appropriate first aid and transportation if necessary in the case of accident or injury.Ensuring that all workplace injuries are promptly treated, dealt with and reported as per requirements of the H&S Manual.Holding workers accountable for job safety. In cases where responsibility includes conducting performance reviews, include safety.Conducting safety talk sessions on relevant topics for all staff regarding potential hazards and unsafe work procedures.Ensuring adequate employee training for the safe and effective conduct of their respective job functions.To Succeed in this role, you have:Required:Post-secondary Education10 years of Security experience5 years of Supervisory experienceValid Security License issued by the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional ServicesFirst Aid & CPR CertificationPreferred:Health and Safety CertificationsTraining and Certification in Emergency ManagementPost Secondary education in Law Enforcement, Justice, Security, Police Foundations, Justice Studies or a Policing CertificateOur story:Oxford Properties Group connects people to exceptional places and is the owner, developer and manager of some of the world's best real estate assets.
