Job Description

Title: Material HandlerDepartment: Rolling ProductionReports to: Rolling SupervisorJOB DESCRIPTION Purpose The Material Handler is responsible for the preparation and transportation of incoming and outgoing material. In addition, the Material Handler must also perform various tasks assigned by the supervisor such as operating machinery and assisting operators on mills as needed.Competency Requirements Job Knowledge: Read travelers to determine work sequences, product dimensions, and or assembly

  • procedures
  • Prepare material for shipping
  • Load and unload material using material handling equipment
  • Operate various machinery (e.g. punch press, saws, drill machine, etc)
  • Dispose of scrap and other material
  • Assist operators in moving parts from mill to carts
  • Follow instructions and training from operators
Work Quality: Examine and inspect finished products to verify conformance to specificationsSignal and assist other workers to remove and position equipment, fill hoppers, and feed

Work Rate: Work to exceed PPHMonday to Thursday 4:30PM to 1:30AMFriday: 3:00PM to 11:00PMCommunications: Communicate with supervisors and peers – providing information in written form or in

Exchange information and knowledge on issues encountered through the use of production

  • Relations: employees, engineering and office staff
  • Be courteous and helpful when dealing with customers, suppliers and with co-workers
Policy Compliance: Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and policies as outlined in theCompany Health and Safety Manual to prevent workplace injuries including using personal
  • protective equipment, using protective devices on equipment, performing all pre-use inspections as required, follow lockout procedures and report all injuries
  • Strictly adhere to machine manual
  • Follow all company rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Follow departmental processes required by ISO and actively participate in recommending
  • improvements
  • Complete daily labour sheets, ensuring accurate allocation of time spent
Education, Knowledge and Skill Requirements Education: High schoolExperience: 2+ years of experience in a production setting
  • 2+ years of experience operating material handling equipment (e.g. crane, forklift, etc)
  • 2+ years of experience operating Raymond Reach
Skills: Ability to communicate verbally and written in EnglishF-HR-01-09 Rev.02 Employee must demonstrate competency. Page 1* of 2*
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently
Ability to operate Forklifts and various production machinery (e.g. punch presses, drills,
  • saws, etc)
Work Environment
  • Normal for an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Works with heavy parts, near moving mechanical parts, and material handling equipment
  • Environment can be noisy
  • Hot environment during summer season
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand or walk for most of the day
  • Manually lift objects up to 60lbs
Other Flexibility to work weekends, day shift, and afternoon shift as necessary in order to meet
  • quality and due dates
