Job Description

LET’S CONNECT!Position title: Supplier Quality Assurance Reporting to: Continuous Improvement SpecialistType of position: Fulltime, permanentLocation: Toronto, ONSummary of Business:Amphenol (www.amphenol.com) is one of the largest manufacturers of interconnect products in the world. We design, manufacture and market electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors, coaxial and flat-ribbon cable, and interconnect systems. The primary end markets for our products are communications and information processing markets, including cable television, cellular telephone and data communication and information processing systems; aerospace and military electronics; and automotive, rail and other transportation and industrial applications.Responsible for the selection, oversight and development of suppliers ensuring compliance for all products entering Amphenol Canada locations. Also, responsible for reporting the suppliers’ quality performance and regulatory compliance trends on regular basis to be used as feedback by the Supply Chain Management.Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Receiving inspection
    • Develop inspection plans for supplied materials and components to ensure full compliance to the specifications
    • Communicate inspection plans to Receiving Inspectors and provide guidance as required.
  • Measurement and Testing
    • Define the proper test/inspection equipment for receiving inspection in accordance with the contractual requirements
  • Suppliers Selection, Assessment, Monitoring and Development
    • Monitor suppliers’ performance in accordance with Amphenol Canada’s and customer’s requirements and surveillance in accordance with aeronautical specifications
    • Collect and maintain supplier performance metrics, certifications, regular compliance and quality surveys, to manage and provide relevant reporting to Amphenol Canada’s stakeholders
    • Participate in the supplier selection, monitoring and development activities in line with procurement strategy.
    • Collect Supplier Quality Surveys and conduct assessment and approval for new suppliers.
    • Ensure material verification is received from suppliers
    • Work with suppliers to get locally available materials used and controlled where possible to reduce lead times.
  • Auditing
    • Prepare supplier audit plan in line with the directions provided by the QMS Manager and in coordination with the Supply Chain Manager
    • Prepare audit reports and follow-up to ensure effective implementation of corrective actions throughout the supply chain as required
  • Quality, Health and Safety and Environment
    • Ensure compliance to all relevant QHSE management procedures and controls within a defined area of activity so that Amphenol Canada provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and employees
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across one’s scope of work to achieve the company’s mission, vision and strategy
  • Change Management
    • Manage self and contribute to the identification of opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and changes in the competitive environment
Following are the listed regular activities this position will conduct.
  • Review new supplier approval requests
    • Collect and review the Supplier Quality Survey from a potential supplier
    • Review all Supplier candidates’ compliance and QMS certifications for validity
    • Review all special process certificates
  • Update Approved Supplier list with all relevant information
  • Monthly review and update of expiring/expired certifications
  • Monthly review of quality results to promote or demote approval status
  • Supplier Corrective Actions
    • Review request for SCAR and issue to the appropriate supplier
    • Work closely with Purchasing and Suppliers to address root causes and corrective actions.
    • Follow up on SCARs for completion/implementation
    • Review SCARs received from suppliers
    • Complete verification of effectiveness and close out SCARs
  • Supplier Score Cards
    • Run monthly supplier NCR data to calculate Quality Rating
    • Compile Quality Rating with OTD from Supply Chain Management to create Supplier Score Cards
    • Work with Supply Chain Management to address underperforming suppliers
  • Supplier Audits
  • Supplier Concessions
    • Manage Supplier Concessions process, follow up on open actions
    • Review Supplier Concessions Request with appropriate ACC team members (Design Engineering and Process and Quality) for disposition
  • Communicate Non-conformances with suppliers
  • Review supplier FAIs
    • Work with Inspection to identify issues, non-conformances, and acceptance
    • Review and communicate supplier requests for change, or concession requests for review to Design Engineering, and return a response to the supplier
Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years experience in Operations Management/Supplier Quality Management role
  • Experience in the Aerospace industry preferred
  • Business Administration - Operations Management, BSc, BEng or equivalent experience
  • Analytical Skills
  • Knowledge of SQM tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of special processes (i.e. plating, die casting, machining, heat treating, and molding)
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma/ lean techniques beneficial
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings
