The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewThe Support Service Worker is responsible to provide services to patients, staff and community partners of Selkirk Mental Health Centre including a clean environment, food service, porter/ laundry services, supply replenishment, equipment maintenance, transportation and security.Experience Experience working in housekeeping and food service in a healthcare or directly related environment is an asset. Experience in customer service Experience in a housekeeping/cleaning environment. Experience in a food handling environment (knowledge of food preparation and safety) Experience in pick-up/ delivery.Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.Certification/Licensure/Registration Valid Class 5 Manitoba Drivers License is desired.Qualifications and Skills Ability to prioritize daily work/competing deadlines. Ability to work safely (safe operation of equipment). Demonstrated ability to work on own and within in a team is essential. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Knowledge of cleaning practices and equipment is essential. Knowledge of food preparation and equipment is essential. Must be willing and able to work with patients at SMHC. Satisfactory attendance record will be a factor. May be required to add/update building inventory. May be required to relieve for the cook. Other related duties as assigned.Physical Requirements Must be physically able to do heavy lifting or carrying, work on feet for eight (8) hour shifts, work at heights and/or in varying environmental conditions (inside, outside, high humidity) and work varying shifts and weekends including statutory holidays. Ability to work in plating assembly at a constant, average pace.
