Job Description

Lake Country Co-op invites applications for the position of Full Time Fertilizer Plant Operator at our Agro location in Shellbrook, SK.Who we are: Lake Country Co-op does business differently. To learn more about who we are and how you can help bring our Lake Country Co-op brand to life, visit us at www.lakecountryco-op.crsReporting to the Shellbrook Agro &Crop Inputs Team Leaders & Sales Agronomists, responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Demonstrate the day-to-day behaviors and actions that align with and strengthen Lake Country Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, brand and focus on safety
  • Responsible for smooth, safe, and efficient operation of dry fertilizer plant
  • Assist with operation of Liquid fertilizer and Bulk seed plants as required
  • Responsible for General Maintenance, Light repair work and cleaning of plants as necessary
  • Responsible for Plant Safety Protocol and the implementation of Safe Work Procedures and SOP’s
  • Direct and Control physical intake of product and ensure all product is offloaded to the correct location in the plant
  • Responsible to complete and document regular Scale Checks
  • Ensure product quality is maintained to the highest of standards
  • Responsible to operate skid steer/loader to transfer product from storage bins to blending bins(dry) and ensure that product is positioned to blend as required
  • Responsible to have a good understanding of the dry fertilizer blending and treating functions, Liquid plant blend and circulating systems and Seed Plant Treating system
  • Must understand fertilizer blend sheets and in conjunction with the Agronomy Team be able to operate the blending system and outload product to the customer
  • Responsible for proper handling and completion of all required documentation, including inventory verification and variance reports
  • Other duties as assigned. The Plant will have seasonal peaks. The successful individual will be expected to back fill in other areas of the Shellbrook Agro Operation during Seasonal lows and as required by Management

  • Basic understanding of fertilizer blending processes
  • Ability to operate skid steer/loader and general equipment
  • Ability to operate basic computer and POS systems
  • Capacity to take direction from Agronomy Team Members and Team Leader
  • Ability to supervise and tactfully direct other Team Members as required
  • Ability and capacity to positively interact and maintain customer and Team Member relationships
  • 4R and Pesticide Dispenser Certification would be considered an asset
  • 1A Driver’s license would be considered an asset
