Job DescriptionMissionIn a world where the energy transition is becoming increasingly important, the Engineer will be called upon to play an active role in clean energy projects related to hydroelectric facilities. Our switchgear and protection and control (P amp;C) team is looking for candidates to assist us in carrying out engineering for various multidisciplinary mandates, such as replacement of turbine-generator sets, replacement of electrical auxiliary services, replacement of mechanical auxiliary services and automation in Hydro-Québec power plants.This person will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and will be able to develop his or her skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, and will be called upon to participate in internal and external training.You will have the opportunity to work in office or in a hybrid setting.Primary ResponsibilitiesTestingamp; Commissioning

  • Design electrical power systems and their layouts for various hydroelectric power plant projects
  • Participate in the development of electrical systems, including schematics and layout drawings for switchgear such as medium-voltage cabinets, high-voltage switchgear, electrical distribution centers, etc.
  • Prepare project deliverables such as plan views, elevations, including detail drawings, miscellaneous layouts, schematics, etc.
  • Perform or validate calculations for equipment sizing, selection of power cable gauges, etc.
Protectionamp; Control (P amp;C)
  • Prepare Control and Protection engineering with 2D (AutoCAD) and CAD (E3) software for the following systems and equipment:
    • Control, measurement, monitoring and protection systems for the turbine-generator set
    • Genset instrumentation: analog instrumentation cabinet or digital systems
    • Computerized power plant control network
    • Interface with speed controller, pump unit and static excitation
    • Remote control of discharge and intake valves
    • Control of mechanical auxiliary systems (air, water, oil)
  • Participate in the development of electrical systems for Control and Protection, including single-wire, three-wire AC, DC protection and control schematics, as well as drawings of wiring, device connections, assembly drawings and material lists
  • Participate in the development of DC power systems, including single-line diagrams, battery capacity calculations, and connection drawings for chargers, batteries, inverters, etc.
  • Participate in the preparation of quotations for the manufacture of equipment and its installation on site
Other Responsibilities Common to Both Areas:
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and technicians in the execution of technical tasks
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and design reviews
  • Coordinate work with other engineering disciplines involved in projects, such as structural, civil, auxiliary mechanical, heavy mechanical, building engineering and architecture
  • Participate in site surveys
  • Possibility of providing site assistance and start-up services
